Called Convention 2020 – QCCC Mapleton

One of our largest events to date, Called Convention 2020 at QCCC Mapleton was a long but rewarding week. Our role was to oversee all things production; including the main auditorium, elective rooms and a busking stage in the central hang-out space. For the main auditorium we supplied a complete Audio, Visual and Lighting package. Our Midas M32R made for very easy FOH and monitor duties, while the Clair Bros PA (cross-hired from our friends at Distinct Audio Productions) and Sennheiser IEM systems ensured our sound was amzing quality. With our full fleet of Sennheiser and Shure microphones in use along with our radial DI’s looking after the inputs, all the audio was top notch.
With no way to hang anything above the relatively small stage, our lighting had to be able to create an atmosphere but do so without taking up much space. To achieve this we used truss pipe with hanging LED bars on the sides of the stage as well as our ACME 400 Hybrids and HEX Pars to really compliment the space. Hanging the truss for the front wash, consisting of our black LED RGB 64’s, really brought a clean and streamline look to the setup and helped achieve everything the front wash is required to do.
For vision, our Alienware laptop ran EasyWorship 7 Software along with Decimators and SDI for distribution making the projector feed rock solid. Our 55″ TV was also utilised as a foldback screen ensuring the band and presenters could easily see what was projected behind them.
For the busking stage our small PA setup was perfect. With comedy, trivia, solo acts and duo’s taking to the stage our Allen & Heath mixer complimented with SM58’s and our DB Tech speakers never missed a beat.
Along with these two stage setups, we also looked after production for the elective rooms by ensuring all the presenters across the week were set to go for their sessions. Once again proving that a bag full of computer adaptors does come in handy!
